What’s inside the wrapping

New Member Nights
Twelve weekly sessions from January to March, working through board games, RPGs, and small- and large-count miniature gaming. They’re there to make walking in for the first time easy.
A proper welcome
We’ll get in touch between Christmas and New Year to explain how it all works, book their first night and ask what they fancy trying first.
A buddy, if they’d like one
An existing member who’ll look out for them on their first couple of visits. No need to arrive knowing anybody.
We supply the games
Six large gaming tables, plenty of terrain and scenery, and a big board game library. They can bring their own games, but they don’t have to.
Something to unwrap
A printable gift voucher is emailed to you as soon as you’ve paid. You can also ask for a printed one to be posted to you.

We’re one of the oldest wargames clubs in Barnsley, and we’re a friendly bunch. We welcome seasoned gamers and complete beginners alike. Our tables are permanently set up and built at a height that’s kind on your back.

Questions
The sensible bits.
Is it too late to buy one for Christmas?
Not at all. Your printable voucher is emailed the moment you pay, so you can buy one right up to Christmas Day and still have something to wrap. If you’d like a printed voucher posted to you too (free), order by 14 December and we’ll post it in time for Christmas.
When does the membership start and end?
Every Gift of Gaming voucher runs from 1 January to 31 March 2027, whenever you buy it. That way all our new members start together and get the full New Member Nights programme.
What if the person I’m buying for doesn’t go much in January?
The dates are fixed, so the membership still ends on 31 March 2027. That’s why we contact every recipient before New Year: to get their first night in the diary and, if they’d like one, pair them up with a buddy.
Who can receive a voucher?
Anyone aged 18 or over who isn’t a BATG member now and hasn’t been one in the last 3 years. The person buying can be anyone, including current members.
What if they turn out not to be eligible?
We check every voucher against our membership records. If the recipient isn’t eligible, we’ll let you know and refund that voucher in full through PayPal.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Yes. If you ask before 1 January 2027, we’ll refund you in full. After the membership has started, vouchers can’t be refunded. The full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
Can I change who the voucher is for?
Yes, as long as it’s before 1 January 2027 and the new person is also eligible. Just email us at .
Do they need to bring anything?
Just themselves. We’ve got tables, terrain and a big library of board games. If they have their own games or armies, they’re very welcome to bring them.
What happens after March?
Nothing, unless they want it to. The voucher doesn’t auto-renew. If they’d like to stay, standard membership is £22.50 a month (£12.50 concessionary), and we’d be very pleased to have them.
Do I need a PayPal account?
No. You can pay with a debit or credit card through PayPal’s secure checkout without creating an account.
